How Will the Quarantined Dubbies React When the "All Clear" Sounds?
by Room 215 inseriously, i can't help wondering whether their hiatus from meetings and service will alter their post-covid-19 lifestyle once they experience the freedom of life in the absence of the hamster wheel?.

One big reason is going to be when they have to join the online meeting and instead of the address bar, a lot of people will use Google to find the 'correct site' and see some interesting snippet of text from an "APOSTATE WEBSITE" on their first page. They will initially ignore it, but sooner or later, curiosity will kill the cat. -

Dead Sea Scrolls FORGERIES at Bible museum (scandal)
by Terry inhttps://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/2020/03/museum-of-the-bible-dead-sea-scrolls-forgeries/ independent researchers funded by the museum of the bible announced that all 16 of the museum’s dead sea scroll fragments are modern forgeries.
the museum ceo exclaimed, “we’re victims—we’re victims of misrepresentation, we’re victims of fraud.” the pieces are probably made of ancient leather, they were inked in modern times and modified to resemble real dead sea scrolls; all with the intention of deceiving for profit.
the researcher's report’s findings raise grave questions about the “post-2002” dead sea scroll fragments, a group of some 70 snippets of biblical text that entered the antiquities market in the 2000's.

There are no real originals of the dead sea scrolls or pretty much any portion of the Bible. Even the oldest fragments are copies or even considered outright forgeries. Over time, these "Bible books" were often copied and modified to fit a particular narrative at the time with originals, sometimes even intentionally, destroyed. Like the Jews cannot prove they are Jewish because the original documents of lineage have long been gone, the Christians cannot prove they are original Christians because both the documents and their interpretative texts are either missing or conflicting.
Even what we currently understand as the 'modern Bible' (a collection of Christian books, stories and prophecy, most of which were removed from canon and have gone missing after the Nicene convention) is largely organized around the 1600's King James Version, which is not necessarily chronological or ideologically organized in a single story, and even KJV has changed significantly since.
The unerring word of god has changed meaning a ton over time.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

@Simon: I know our hospitals will be stretched and there will be issues at some point. I'm in meetings daily discussing these things with immunologists, planners, purchasers, government officials, we've gone over worst case scenarios and it ain't pretty.
We hope it doesn't come to that though and at this point, pretty much all systems should be operating at 'normal'. The epidemic-level events China saw in February hasn't materialized yet, if you're closing services now, what are they doing later?
Our hospital system has sufficient face masks, gloves etc for the entire system, both critical and non-critical care at least 3 months without any re-supply though and the DHS has promised that the most critical things will be able to be supplied from local sources when necessary (although we're not sure their plans are going to materialize in the time necessary). I understand some systems out in the boonies that have minimal funding may not be able to sustain very long, but Toronto is a major city.
I agree about Toronto government bungling it though, we've seen people that were refused entry into the US, take a detour to Canada/Toronto and cross the border there to come to our hospital system to get checked out (from China in particular). Insane, those people should be arrested.

@Simon: Our hospitals should have sufficient stretch for this though. There are a few hundred cases around Toronto, that's barely a single floor of a single wing of a hospital and as you know, most hospitals operate with "this space intentionally left blank".
I've heard people complain very often when walking through or visiting, why are our taxes paying for so much room per patient, and look, there's like 3 oxygen hookups and outlets etc - the answer is - because a "single" patient room is built to sustain 2, 3 or 4 patients.

@newsheep: Why is MRI cancelled? Is the hospital infected? I work for a hospital not too far from there and it is continuing to operate, we have infectious disease protocols.
To clarify our mass outbreak protocol here in the US: All of our hospitals have huge corridors (if you ever wonder about all the empty space in US hospitals, that's what they're for) and thousands of various types of beds and supplies in the basement with the necessary technology and plastic sheet barriers. In case of a mass outbreak, we simply pack out the supplies. Currently we are screening people at the entrance of the hospital parking and making people that show any symptoms (primarily fever) go to another entrance.
The primary problem will be 3 months down the road - if China makes true on its threat to block supplies to the US, our hospital systems will start to run out of supplies for current care levels and start to ration certain supplies. The US, since the end of the cold war, has given up on production independence, that's about to change.

They seem to be basing it around local state recommendations, which is different between the EU states. It seems they continue wanting to maximize the meetings and preaching work, but it seems there is a ton of conflict in the branches about which is the best approach. This letter just screams: our committees can't agree, the older ones want to continue pushing on, we didn't cancel during WWII, and the younger ones just want to cancel everything.
I think the EU Federal Government should come with a harsh recommendation, unlike Trump, their bureaucrats aren't too keen on giving advise and leading their country, causing a huge difference in local government reactions between their states and given the open borders between states, this is going to cause a ton more casualties than necessary.

I can read both languages, it's basically the same things they sent to the UK earlier this week - first they wanted more hygienic symbol passing, then they simply cancelled memorials, meetings and door-to-door work. They basically said not to spread any more invitations to the memorial in public and assemble in small groups, not to have any traveling Uber-elders between the groups etc.

Why the change?
by Fadeaway1962 inpossible cancelling the memorial after years of experiences of bro/sis under nazi , communist oppression and many other countries still conducting the memorial under threat of death that the governing body is listening to the superior authorities regarding this virus pandemic.. could it be that after taking control of the k/halls that the branch/governing body would be responsible for any disobedience to the civil authorities and liable for any deaths.. they would have left upto the local body of elders and encouraged obedience to god rather than men and a lack of faith in jehovah to protect his people..

I was thinking the same thing. They are definitely aware of the PR if they continued going from door to door and having huge meetings when the rest of the world is basically cancelling everything.
The organization has changed over the last decade, they are trying to be more mainstream, hip and modern evangelicals.

I work at a hospital (IT leadership). We are anticipating cases to peak in ~2 weeks with mass panic setting in our community soon. We're locking down the place as of this weekend, we got officially 1 case, but more cases have been confirmed but aren't yet published. Our hospital system has sufficient supplies for ~3 months.
All nearby Universities are going online, school systems cancelled all events but guidance from the State is to continue public schools but prepare packets of work. They want to perform closures and extend schools past June, but there are regulations (bureaucracy) that require them to be open, the state has to change the law.
DHS is warning that China may reduce or block shipments of medical supplies (which is pretty much everything) in the near future and they are trying to spin up American production facilities which will take months. Supply lines are already interrupted, Dell-EMC, HP, Lenovo are heavily affected for spare parts, Dell (consumer line) not yet although there is a backorder for thousands of laptops.
I was aware of the rush to supplies this week, so we went shopping for 2 months of supplies 2 weeks ago, stocked an extra freezer with half a cow worth of meat and frozen veggies. Store shelves here have been empty this week, not even cans of soup.
